The Algarve is the southernmost region of mainland Portugal, enjoying 155km of south-facing coastline. The Algarve is a popular destination for tourism, primarily because of its beautiful beaches, lovely Mediterranean climate and excellent golf courses.

Vilamoura is located just 20 minutes drive from Faro airport. Covering some 20 square km of land, it is one of Europes largest tourist beach and golf resorts. Almost every kind of sport and entertainment are on offer, including six magnificent golf courses, sports clubs, a shooting range, night clubs, a casino, several first class spas and numerous restaurants and vibrant bars.

Vilamoura mainly consists of private villas and apartments, and the few hotels typically cater for the higher end of the market, thus, whilst lively bars and night-clubs can be found, Vilamoura does not suffer from the same 'lager-lout' reputation that plagues many other resorts in the Algarve and southern Spain.

The weather is the Algarve is particularly good, with mild winters (ideal for all year round golf) and very warm in the summer (without it getting too uncomfortably hot as in some other southern Mediterranean destinations, therefore making it ideal for families).
